Sources: There is "disappointment" among some #Giants players regarding how the Daniel Jones situation was handled over the past week, especially with players aware it was primarily a financial decision by the organization.

Dexter Lawrence publicly stated on Tuesday: "He's the QB1. To me, he's the best quarterback on the team."

One offensive player told me over the phone: "We're not idiots. They did it because of money. So be it. But Daniel has been all class, never complained, and is now being completely disregarded. The TEAM record is bad. You can point fingers everywhere. To try to blame him is trash, and making him third string is weak as fu**."

The sense I've gotten from multiple sources — players, coaches, and executives — is that the issues within the organization go far beyond just one person.

Could be a sense of loyalty to Jones.  Could be they see DeVito in practice and KNOW Jones is better.  Could be they do not know what they are talking about!  We shall see.

I appreciate some believe that players see the bigger picture and the benefits of tanking, but since DJ's benching, I have heard many more people with first-hand NFL experience reiterate that players go out there putting their health (and potentially their careers) on the line every game.  They go out there to win, and the fastest way to lose a locker room is if the players feel like their coach or the organization doesn't share their desire to win.

By going with DeVito, Daboll went all in.   Either DeVito provides a spark like last year and Daboll and Schoen come out smelling like roses, or DeVito crashes and burns.  If DeVito crashes and burns, Daboll loses the locker room, and he's gone.  At that point, Schoen should be a little nervous about his future with the team.   

It will be interesting to see how Schoen and Daboll's all-in bet plays out.

It's a challenge for a coach not to keep the locker room from turning after a 2-8 start.  I think it's probably more challenging if that coach isn't in his 1st year and even more so when the team is in its 2nd awful season in a row.

I actually completely agree.  Which is why I argued against tanking last year, why I argued against the sell/trade them all mentality (ie, the people who said we should have traded Barkley last year) - when you make decisions like this you are sending a potentially culture-shattering message to the locker room.  In Barkley's case, as the hardest worker and team captain, it would have been, in my opinion, catastrophic.

I think more fans need to realize that there is losing and then there is LOSING when you've lost the team.  If you lose the team, you have to prepare for the product on the field to be completely abysmal- so abysmal that it forces you to completely clean house.  Because you'll be playing against grown, professional dudes who DO have something to play for and those dudes will wipe the floor with any opposition that is trying to phone it in.

Put me solidly in the column of keep playing your ass off and let the chips fall where they may.   

I'm sure Jones is the better qb, non of the three are good enough for the future though

Unfortunately he has an extremely high salary and a decision has to be made so the giants can enter the 2025/26 season.

Jones has failed to develop and dispute being the stronger QB is he can not meet the degg by elemental benchmarks the team needs to make new plans

As such , they can not afford to get him injured so he sits

The money and the injury clause are both tied to Jones representatives and the contract they negotiated.  While unfortunate jones played a role in the happenstance that led to this situation on and off the field

I will add that I have heard the reason the Giants weren't able to retain Tyrod Taylor wasn't because of money.  He was angry that they benched him in favor of DeVito.

I think the players ought to see what DeVito can do this weekend before spouting off. Whichever way they slice it, they were not getting it done with Jones - the team won 3 since the new deal and have what, 2 TDs thrown at home during the same time frame.

I mean it can't get much worse. So outside of loyalty to a team mate. I'm not understanding the carping.

Lock stated at the signing he was brought in as a back up. 

Daniel Jones is the starter of this team," Lock said Friday. "Now, I need to come in and push Daniel to be the best that he can be."

And, if DeVito plays as well or better than Jones and they still lose?  Let's face it, Jones has not set a very high bar for what DeVito needs to do in order to accomplish that.  Vets were not happy in 2004 when they switched from Warner to Eli when they were 5-3.  Not comparing either of our 2 "quarterbacks" to those 2, but what your saying is the same concept.
