Another stupid play call.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Devito is playing his 1st game of the year and he is without (2) OL starters. Big difference

They were moving the ball and he calls a wildcat inside the 5

And another turnover ...

And another nail in the head coach's coffin ...

And another nervous meeting between Schoen and Mara trying to explain they haven't lost the team.

"Dave Jennings was one of the all-time great Giants. He was a valued member of the Giants family for more than 30 years as a player and a broadcaster, and we were thrilled to include him in our Ring of Honor. We will miss him dearly." (John Mara)

What's the saying, "too clever by half"?
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

If you've never heard the expression, "outcoached himself," well, that play was the epitome.

:surrender: !

Ugh!

Cool who takes over? The OC who isn't trusted to call plays or the DC whose players have given up and can't tackle?

Ronnie Barnes.

After all he can do  no wrong in Mara's eyes
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Just a couple of other points. Why did they wait until the second half to even try and get your best player involved in the game? Nabors is probably our best offensive weapon and as OC you have to figure out ways to get the ball in his hands. He went unnoticed until the start of the second half.

Also, TD is a rookie, starting his first game. On the first play, Tracy runs for 16 yards. So what does Daboll do for most of the 1st half, have TD try and throw the ball and he is consumed. Let him ease into the game, and run the ball as much as you can, just a horrible, horrible game plan. I am not convinced he cannot be a serviceable coach but he simply cannot call plays anymore. He really seems to have no feel for the game as an OC.

Lenn,
Great observations. I hope our hierarchy at least asks the same questions in their assessment

Without an AP QB, Daboll had always been a terrible OC.

I can go back and look myself because I have before but forgot, but in those stints where he was a terrible OC, did he ever have a QB whom you would call even "decent" or "league-average"? Or who other OCs had materially more success with?

No, which is why I'm ok if the Giants choose to give him another year with a potential good starting QB. As you stated a few months ago, we know he can be a good OC with a plus QB.
