Everything else is spin.

Got it...they say nice things about him, then immediately proceed to void his 5th year option.  When left with no choice but to sign him, they say more nice things, then proceed to negotiate an 18-month out from "his franchise contract."  They sure do have a funny way of demonstrating thier "commitment."  Again, the facts don't fit your narrative...

If Schoen and Daboll let Mara bully them and they don't make their own major decisions. then I don't want them, I want guys who don't take their orders from an incompetent Nepo Baby. In any case, the result is that Jones became their guy. If he wasn't, they should have said so, and done something about it. Three years in, you can't just shake it off and pretend it has nothing to do with you.
Of course it's just speculation on my part. I have been in the military and worked for some pretty high brass. I understand the unintended influence that rank and positions of authority have on people.

Add to the mix a first-time GM and HC to a flagship franchise in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's easy to see the willingness to compromise a little. Additionally, they had zero history to come in the door making firm demands.

Last, no one suggested that they claimed the decisions had nothing to do with them.

Agreed. I don't think they would've been hired if they did t sell the idea they can "work@ with and make jones into a franchise QB because of the tools he had and because of Daboll pedigree. Then when we beat Vikings it was obviously fools gold and we know Mara wanted Barkley back. They likely sold him on the idea RB by committee is better way to go.

This is precisely why they will do it. After years of calling him for recommendations and getting Judge and Daboll, they'll just go to the source directly. The problem is he won't be bringing a young Tom Brady with him, so we'd likely be getting 2023 Bill Belichik.

Which is why this baffles me how many think hiring him makes any sense.

Judge was a colossal failure that he gave a glowing recommendation to, OBrien, McDaniels, Flores etc all have failed as HC, and we are supposed to trust his succession plan?
