no .. Dabol has failed as a coach. last night, back to back penalty's, one for having 12 men on field on defense. It's week 11. we shouldn't be seeing this

Mara has expressed his dismay and guilt for doing "everything we could to ruin this kid" when discussing Jones.

If Mara feels that he didn't give Schoen and Daboll a fair shot by "advocating" to keep Jones and Barkley, they will survive the season, no matter how many games we lose.

If one or both are gone, he's an idiot who doesn't recognize his own meddling.

This. I don't understand how some folks on this board attribute Jones' contract to Schoen/Dabol. IT'S ALL ON MARA. Thus the two year out as the compromise, and here we are. I can't believe that Schoen, and maybe Dabol as well when they scouted Jones' draft year thought he was worthy of the 6th pick. Schoen had a home run draft this past year after restructuring the scouting staff. Like any restructuring in any business the results you want takes time.

We look for people to be unbiased here but when folks are, it's not appreciated. Instead, it gets challenged and the unbiased part gets ignored so the responder can further their point.

I've been a Daboll supporter from Day 1 but I am also critical of him when I see he deserves criticism..

Folks supporting Jones is fine but passing off his shortcomings onto someone else is not very unbiased.

Schoen and Daboll are now the target du jour and all failures will be laid at their feet.

Firing Daboll would deliver a lovely implicit message into the hiring cycle: "If you can't drag a Daniel Jones-led team to the post-season at least twice in three years after inheriting one of the worst rosters in football (and the one time you won Coach of the Year for managing it), then you're out of here!" Yes, the owner with that approach to expectations is someone I'm sure the most capable coach candidates are lining up to get behind. For all the ballyhooing about "the grass isn't always greener" I had to hear about Jones (now the starting QB for the Vikings' practice squad), somehow that doesn't get applied to the 2022 NFL Coach of the Year...

Don't forget that a QB that hasn't accomplished squat in 6 years got a much longer leash and much more support than said coach who was 100% responsible for the QB's sole successful season.

A few observations:

1) Not a single person can point to one thing Daboll does better than his coaching peers

2) It's the opposite of bias to take an evidence-based approach.  All available evidence disproves rather than supports the assertion that Mara forced Schoen and Daboll to sign DJ to a veteran contract

3) The Cowboys are more injured than the Giants and had a worse QB than the Giants.  Yet, the roster that Schoen spent 3 years building still lost the the Cowboys

The very credit you and Todge give Jones for 2022 doesn't get provided to the coach who got Jones the accolades (and subsequent contract).

If you give Daboll credit (which seems fair) you also have to do what you don't do, which his give him blame for 2023 and 2024

What blame does he deserve for 2023? He lost his tallest midget after 6 games. A UDFA came in and won three games and pushed them further away from drafting a replacement for the starting midget. What exactly is there to blame him for?

2024 was the season Jones, not Daboll, to show he needed to be kept moving forward.

I've said many times before that Daboll isn't blameless. There's only so much as coach can do with limited resources at QB.

Well I guess that's one way to believe Daboll is a good coach, only make him responsible for good things, not the bad things.

And this is why I continue to get frustrated with you Rich. You can't even acknowledge that I've called out Daboll for taking on too much as the OC and bad calls.

It's dishonest and not conversing in good faith.

Tim,

I am ten times more frustrated by the lack of consistency in positions-  Like Daboll should bet credit for Jones having a good season but not an ounce of blame for the next two bad seasons.

Giving Daboll a weak slap on the wrist for doing playcalling, doesn't negate my serious point
