Until the NFL does a REAL job and clarifies pass interference to where it is consistently called or not, all these d-backs will have up and down years.

I saw it this year with Sauce Gardner. These guys go up and down in 2024. No rhyme or reason.

Officiating in general is a big and I mean very big problem. But that should probably be its own thread.

Why would Giants not put in a claim for such a college talent at least just to kick the tires and see?  Maybe a poor scheme fit or just bad chemistry with a position coach.

For the reasons I posted and that embedded video. He is soft and can't tackle and we already have enough of these flawed players. Move on.

I would have liked to have him in our room to at least compete, best of luck to him in LA

Might have been waiting until he cleared waivers, which of course he didn't.  To get him on the cheap.  Or they just didn't feel it was worth it.  Although given how that defense has looked throwing a cheap contract at a recent 1st round pick doesn't seem like all that bad of a deal.

A first-round project. Sounds familiar. These things happen when a Team Drafts for need.

MrG: That's my attitude. He came to the NFL the same year as we took Banks (I seem to remember) and he was taken a bunch of picks higher than Banks in the first round. I thought we were lucky Banks fell to us instead of Forbes, because IMO Forbes isn't strong (big) enough to play NFL CB, but I see no downside to grabbing him unless he was released for a reason other than disciplinary issues. If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

Ed is it that or a significant scheme change?

I thought he was supposed to be a good man guy and Quinn's schemes have been heavy zone in the past.  Not sure if that's changed at all.

I don't have extensive knowledge about the player but according to the article, he's not a press corner, is slow to close in pursuit and it's resulted in giving up receptions and yards. Something is wrong for the team to give up on him.

Glad we passed on Forbes. He's the exact opposite of Phillips in terms of his physicality, his tackling ability, and his willingness to be a complete CB.

Phillips is the model CB, IMO, and bringing in guys who run counter to that model doesn't seem to make sense.
