It's a shame in some ways but very good in others. Think for example of all the police brutality incidents that have been captured on film by eye witnesses. Not to mention countless other examples of people behaving in an unacceptable or criminal manner.

I don't like invasion of privacy, and I am not saying it is uniformly good that everything gets filmed now, but I would also argue that it is not uniformly bad or unequivocally "a shame."

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 07, 2024, 07:59:52 AMArch wasn't just 5 star but he was the top rated recruit overall in the 2023 class according to rivals.

The term "generational" gets thrown around too casually. We don't know yet how good Arch or Underwood will be. Both are very good prospects. Arch looked excellent for the most part when he played this year. Much better QB rating and YPA than Ewers and he makes high level plays with his feet. Not bad at all for a 19 year old.

Jeff - I know that but not every top rated recruit is generational just because they are #1 in their class.  Arch is good and I get that last year he was a true frosh so unlikely to start but if he didnt beat Quinn Ewers this season to be starting QB, that's raises a small flag for me.  I am not on the Ewers bandwagon.  Generational would not be sitting on the bench in year 2.  Underwood may start as a true frosh next season but I guarantee he will start in his 2nd year.

Jeff,

Fair point about the benefits.  I will say I am glad my young and foolish days were pre-video era.

Hahaha. I wish I could "triple-like" that post because I couldn't agree more.

Engaging silly nonsense seems to have become routine around here. In any event, there are at least two things we might want to keep in mind. 1) What we choose to think about Arch Manning's future counts for, as we might say in Yiddish, goat xxxx. 2) While we know that Grandpa Archie prohibited Eli from playing for the Chargers with its greedy player-exploiting owner Alex Spanos, he did not specify that he was to only play for the Giants. That occurred as a result of Ernie Accorsi's massive trade effort to not again lose out on his top QB target as he did years earlier with John Elway.

Are we really so mired in collusion that when the wind blew and the xxxx flew, we couldn't see more than an inch or two?

Cheers!

Very insightful and important observations. The good news, at least, is that you're here, flying above the rest of us, illuminating BBH with your boundless wisdom and setting the record right while keeping everyone in check.

What would this forum be like without the countless posts just like the above we get from you on a regular basis? One genuinely shudders at the thought.

I am surprised that the pressure of your tongue in your cheek would not have prevented you from shuddering even though your use of a word like "genuinely" leaves me to do so. And so, I guess I should thank you for having made my point. Huh?

Cheers!

Quote from: T200 on December 06, 2024, 10:19:21 PMI don't know why Giants fans feel Arch should come here, as if he has some attachment or allegiance to the Giants.

He's Cooper's son, and as such, he has two 2-time SB-winning uncles.

Personally, I don't know that he'll live up to the undue and unfair pressure of following in Eli's footsteps and making a name for himself in NY.
Arch's whole family are ole miss diehards even Cooper went to Ole Miss but Archie didn't like kiffins offense so they turned them down for Texas despite arch wanting to play there. Archie is always meddling.

Between Archie and Deon, shouldn't this be a wake-up call for Mara?

Maybe Arch liked Ernie Accorsi and Tom Coughlin but does not think much of Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll

Maybe we should all stop taking Grandpa Manning so seriously. The kid doesn't even start!

He may not be that impressed with John Mara, either.

Ed: There's a world of difference between what "should" be a wake-up call and what I view as reality (the guy is stubborn and unwilling to change, or content to just be in the largest media market, make his money, and never try very hard to win anything because he has a deep well of potential fans/suckers). I think you know what I'm talking about already, which is why I'm dancing around with my choice of words. Bob

PS. I re-wrote the above (because it was so poorly written) and deleted my original response.
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!
