Best wishes always..that said..Joe Schoen has to go. ..next week..if he doesn't..it will bury the Giants even further..as Niecthzie said..when you start into the abyss..it may be looking back at you..it's about self awareness. And they have none as an organization..lifted..catered..sad the situations..but clueless..in 7 billion dollars ownership bliss.

Why?

I wouldn't cry if he got canned, but I think there is something to salvage with him and he  CAN be a decent GM. He came here and was burdened with all the Gettleman bull****, the cap, the QB, and a meddling owner.  He had to work to get out of that hole and have this great draft. I get rid of the coach and give Schoen another year maybe even 2.

I was just using Thibs as an example, but sorry, he is a good e example. Do you think his game has grown under  Daboll? Shouldn't a #5 draft pick, who does have the tools to be exceptional, be more of a presence on the football field? He disappears for too many games during the year. Again, do you think his game has improved each year under Daboll? I don't. I think with a better coach he has the tools to dominate, but his development has been stunted by poor coaching.

Lenn: I agree that (by most measures of a guy taken that high in the draft) he is not really ringing the bell, but he DOES get better each year (the progress is slower than the team may have expected, but there is no regression in any category except maybe for actual sacks.  I am one of those who believe pressures are not far behind sacks in importance for a pass-rusher. I don't know much about the coaching, but I am certain he is trying his best and not dogging it. He gets out there as much as, and as often as, the medical people will allow, IMO. Bob
If Jeff Hostetler could do it, Daniel Jones can do it !!!

I agree, he is trying, but I also feel he has more talent than he is showing and whomever has been coaching him, well, just hasn't rang the bell with him. I look at too many boxscores and see nothing next to his name. When he was out, did the defense suffer? He is not getting the sacks wich he was drafted for, he really doesn't hold the edge and has basically one move toward the QB. Get him another move or two and he could be something, but too many are calling him the B word. Where you might see some improvement, I just don't. he is a decent player, but I just feel with some better coaching he could be much better. He has the tools.

Quote from: LennG on December 30, 2024, 12:57:35 PMWhile I am on the topic of Daboll, I was talking with my son about him. He brought up a very interesting point, really, under Daboll's leadership, name me ONE darn player who really has gotten better by him or anyone on his staff. Ignore the rookie class because we will see if they get better next year, but in Daboll's 3 years here, what player have we really seen improvement from? Lawrence was always good, Thibs and Neal are becoming busts. WHO has shown significant improvement under Daboll's regime? NO ONE that's who.

He needs to go now and bring in a new coaching staff that teaches and helps guys become better football players.
I can't argue with that, Len. I still want him back but that point is heard loud and clear.

LennG,

Yesterday was about professional pride, avoiding humiliation..that's all. Saving cap money Schoen is? Middle of the pack there, plus a great draft? By Giants comparisons, yes. Look at the Rams rebuilding so fast..the Chiefs finding the best players. not needs..the Eagles retooling their  back seven in a year..cmon..that's the standard the Schoen can't do when hes fighting to save his job.

Why not?

And we simply cannot compare the eagles GM to ours. he is probably the top guy out there.

I think you and I were t he lone voices out there fo r giving him another year, but now, I want a fresh start. I do keep Schoen though as I see some potential there. He has gotten us out of the hell that Gettleman left us, has freed us from the Jones era and has now been dealt a bad hand for the draft. I really would like to see what he can do so I'm still with you on that one.

I think they are joined at the hip. I would only be OK with it if Schoen makes the decision to fire Daboll. If Mara does it, it tells me nothing has changed and he'll continue to meddle.

Firmly I want both gone..Tim McDonald demoted..Chris Mara at the race track..
and the outside pros to stop this mess from somewhere else..

So, we are advocating firing a coach for winning a game?  Interesting.

I'm saying fire the coach because out team has gotten progressively worse each year he has been the coach. Celebrating a win to get us to THREE wins, for me anyway, is the straw that broke the camel's back.

Coaches are supposed to try to win every game.  As fans, we can prefer they lose out.  A coach/player can't do that.

Bittersweet seemingly every Giants rare win.  :suspious:  :(   >:( 2

You won't find anyone who disagrees with you on that.  Unfortunately, it is not happening.
