Thought this might be close but this is a proper beat down?

Over the last month, I wonder if the steelers decide to move on from Wilson.

Blue Since ‘62

Nobody's beating the Ravens. Its just frustrating watching them dominate like this and knowing that the Giants are nowhere near close to that level and probably won't be.

Like KC the prior 3 years, they have an MVP QB. In the modern NFL, it's hard to compete without one.  We can talk about coaching ad nauseam, but it doesn't matter without a viable QB. The Ravens are 70 - 24 in games Jackson starts and 4 - 9 when he doesn't.  During his tenure, they only missed the playoffs in one season; in that season, they were 7-5 with him, and 1-4 without him.  It's all about the QB; get the right one and we can quickly turn it around.i know, easier said than done!  However, we can't remain in QB hell forever.

Justin Herbert threw more interceptions (4) in one playoff game than he threw the entire year (3).

Thus, the reason for the loss.

Two of those went through and off his receivers hands. Not on him.

Thanks, I didn't watch the game, just looked at the stats.

However, two picks in one playoff game is still quite a lot for him considering he only threw 3 the entire year.

I watch Lamar and ask myself if jones ever could've done what he's done and the answer is a resounding NO.

I as a fan trusted Jones for WAY too long

Jess,

This got to me as well.  Did Wilson lose the ability as he got older or was his coaching so brilliant they got him to the 2 SBs and a victory without him ever being able to get through normal QB progressions?

5 years in the league and not a lot to show for it despite all the accolades

3 QBs have won it all since he game into the league. So that's a lot of QBs without a lot to show for their efforts.

As you pointed out in the game thread, his line was awful. Johnston can't catch a cold. The running game was non-existent.

I know it's fashionable to put it all on the QB, and yes, they are in the most important position, but generally, he cannot succeed without "supporting pillars".

If Herbert was on the waiver wire tomorrow, 20+ teams would be putting in a claim and immediately signing him to their active roster. I think that illustrates his standing in the NFL.

He had a dreadful game yesterday. It's a shame that he had more interceptions in one game than he did all season. But give me 3,800 pass yards, 300 rushing yards, a 23/3 TD ratio, 2 rushing TDs and a 65 QBR any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Ed, I am talking about Herbert's 5-year career and not just yesterday's poor performance.  Interestingly, over the same 5-year span, you get one more playoff appearance (a loss) with Herbert as the Giants got with Daniel Jones. That leaves one or more of the following.

1)  Support for a QB is critical, even for the top QBs

2)  Herbert is not as good as believed

3)  QB position, while important,t is often over-valued by fans and pundits alike

It's a team game that rests on individual performances - I don't think there's any question of that. In fact, even Jones' most ardent critics know that.

But I'm not getting into another Jones discussion, I'm not sure why anything about criticising or supporting a QB comes with Maude Flanders type exclamation of 'Won't somebody think of Daniel Jones'.

If fans are pundits think the QB position is over-valued, I don't know what to say, personally - I think it's the most important position on offense.

Herbert was bad yesterday, I don't think it's his fault in his previous playoff appearance his defence was a sieve (once again). That's not to absolve him of the Jacksonville collapse - but he's not playing defence.

Ed,

I am sorry I offended you by mentioning Daniel Jones by name.  My intention was to mention DJ as an example of a starting QB who was generally considered mediocre to very bad.  I didn't realize that just mentioning the Daniel Jones name would be so triggering for you.  I will keep that in mind in future discussions

One was a pick 6.

They left too many points and let Houston stick around in the first half. Houston got it together with defense.
