And with the 7th pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Giants select Evan Neal, tackle from Alabama.

The two moments that BURN in my psyche are the Flipper Anderson Walk (run) off into the tunnel I believe that was '89 season playoffs of '90 and the absolute meltdown at home vs Vick and the way Desean Jackson rubbed it in with that punt return. BOTH games were at home which made it worse for me.

Andrew

We were the better team. We were the team to beat. We had basically the same team that won SB21 and SB25. We were primed to win another Lombardi and in a flash it was gone.
Not to harp on it but there was that horrible PI call on Collins. In that situation, in overtime you just don't make a call like that.
Overall it is still my worst Giants moment ever.

I have talking about that one play for so many years now. Mark Jackson, in my opinion, kept us from going home field advantage thru out the playoffs and a great shot you get to the
SB. He never looked at Simms. Simply unbelievable.

100% on all counts

Javkson completely cost the Giants the East, home field and legit shot for Simms to get back to the Super Bowl

That team was good and much better than the team that got smoked in San Fran

Lenn,

This play is to you what 1988 Mark Collins' play on Jerry Rice means to me. Collins getting up on the line with Rice to jam him, completely miss, then playing catchup while Rice pulls in Montana's perfect throw, seeing Kenny Hill come in a second late and knocking Collins into the 49ers' bench, and Rice cruising the distance for the winning points and, ultimately, switching the fate of both teams.

If the Giants held on and won, and the season played out the same, the rest of the way, the Giants would have won the NFC East, earned the #2 seed in the NFC playoffs and had a week off. The chances of them playing Minnesota, and beating them, at Giants Stadium, would have been pretty good. An NFC Championship at Chicago, though, maybe, maybe not. It wasn't the same Bears' defense that clobbered them in 1985 and 1987, but they were still a formidable group and Parcells/Ehrhardt hadn't figured them out yet.

In 1993, say the Giants won that Dallas game, win the East and send the Cowboys to the Wild Card. Would the Giants REALLY have a chance to beat that dynamic 49ers team in the Divisional Round, even if the game was at Giants Stadium? That team was head and heels better than the Giants and I struggle to see them get past that group which pummeled them 44-3 at Candlestick. I have no doubt the game would have been more competitive in New York, with the cold weather and all, but I just can't see them outplaying Steve Young, Ricky Watters, Jerry Rice, Brent Jones, and their excellent offensive line. Their defense was also outstanding with Charles Haley one of the best in the league at that point.

Beating the Cowboys would have been a dream come true. That being said, I really wonder if they could string a playoff run, with the extra week of rest, against the other dominating team in the NFC.

As much as I would have wanted them to, I don't believe they would have ever gotten past the 49ers, in the end.

Peace!

I don't remember the year but it was awhile ago.  The Cowboys were America's team and the Giants went through training camp talking themselves and all of us clueless fans that we were approaching their level.  On the 1st or 2nd play of the game, Emmett Smith breaks off a 65 yard TD run and you knew with that 1 play that all of those months of optimism were a waste of time

Maybe Chris, but we have seen way too many times when the 'best' team isn't the one standing at the final gun.
Sure we got demolished in Frisco, but by then we were demoralized.
Had we beat Dallas, and even then, Dallas with an injured Emmitt Smith might have been the better team, we would have had momentum, home field and make the Niners travel across the country to play in NY in January.
Simms was still Simms and Taylor, even at that time was the best defensive player out there.
In my heart I always felt we had a legit shot to win it all had we won that game.

1963 NFL Championship game and Shofner dropping a gimme that would have given us a 14-0 lead.  I'll go to my grave believing we win easily if he makes that catch

That was 1995. The Giants lost 0-35 on the night the retired Simms #11 on national tv. We were coming off a 9-7 record and in year 2 as a starter Dave Clown was supposed to take the next step which never happened. The signing of Hershel Walker and drafting of Tyrone Wheatly to go along with Rodney Hampton was supposed to make our running game unstoppable so Brown wouldn't have to throw much. It became clear the game was passing George Young by as he couldn't adjust to the new world of unrestricted free agency with salary caps.

Gosh how could I have forgotten that one
We clearly were the better team. Tittle gets hurt and it was all over after that. Now I'll be up half the night reliving that one also.

Losing to the Jets in 88.  Down 20-7, Simms was sacked 7 times.  Rallied to go ahead 21-20 late.  Jets return kickoff to the 40.  O'Brien leads them to the go ahead score with about 30 seconds left.  Lose division and then SF lies down to the Rams to give them the Wild card.  That whole season.  The niners game early in year that someone mentioned.  The Eagles game at home.  Block FG in OT just to have Simmons recover and run it in.
