Quote from: Jolly Blue Giant on February 15, 2025, 12:12:29 PMI dove into "The Gorge" (Apple+) with huge anticipations of a great thriller, that was released yesterday. Wasn't what I expected, and it was closer to a horror/sci-fi type of flick. I was not ready for "creatures from hell" to be a part of it (the trailer left that out). Movie was okay and not a complete waste of time. I'm just not a fan of horror, so there's that  :-??

Thanks for the heads up on The Gorge. We just singed on for a 3 month free trial for Apple and was looking at what looks interesting. The Gorge also sort of peaked my interest and I did watch the trailer. Now I can cross it off my list as I am also not into that genre of movies.

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on January 22, 2025, 09:16:29 AMWe blew through Season 1 of this (9 Episodes), it's very good.

It's really hard to pigeonhole this, but if you like sci-fi meshed with ethics/morality, then this might be of interest.

I just started watching Severence this afternoon. I watched the first 2 episodes, fell asleep during both of them, rewatched them, and still do not have a clue as to what is going on. Does this get better?

Since I have the floor, yesterday we watched a very interesting show on PBS, Deconstructing The Beatles".

https://www.pbs.org/show/deconstructing-the-beatles/

If you are a Beatles fan or even like music, this would be a very interesting watch.

"Acclaimed "Beatle-ologist" Scott Freiman guides you, step by step, on an educational journey through several of The Beatles' milestone albums and the fascinating stories that accompanied them. No matter how much you know about the Beatles, there's something new here for you. Episodes include "The Beatles Come to America," "Deconstructing Rubber Soul," and "A Trip Through Strawberry Fields."

This gentleman takes you thru the entire process of how songs like Strawberry Fields were made. I kind of thought the 4 guys got together, played their instruments, and sang, and a record was made. Just not the case. The Beatles were so instrumental in revolutionizing music in their day. Today a computer does it all, but back then, it was truly amazing.

This is not just another Beatles watch just to capitalize on their name. We really learned a lot from this show. Highly recommended.

I tried the same, and gave up

I'm sorry I missed that Beatles program, I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Thanks for the "heads up", Lenn.
I've been watching a show on Prime that's a few of years old (2009), but I just heard about it from a friend of mine.
It's called "Better off Ted" and it's what I like to call Stupid Funny.
It is a comedy that centers around a Mega corporation called Veridian Dynamics, making some of the dumbest products you can imagine. Ted is a project manager who is the office favorite and the "go-to" guy whenever a problem arises.
Veronica is his shrewd, no-nonsense boss who looks down on the office drones and just wants results.
We have a couple of scientists and a product tester in the mix too.
No deep storylines here, just silly office fun. Only two seasons of 30 minute episodes.
If you just want some mindless laughs, I recommend it.

I tried Severance again yesterday, and to any who think this is a good watch, I yield to you. I am done with it.

Please, someone who has seen this show, tell me WTF it is even about? Have I missed something?

After 3 episodes I would have expected something. Gosh, even Christopher Walkin seems lost in this and that is really hard top do.

I have moved on to Bad Monkey. After one episode, not bad so I'll try a few more.

I thought so, Lenn. But I also liked it from the off.

We just finished the 2nd season of "School Spirit".

I can't go into details but by the final episode it really became quite silly and quite unbearable. Overall it wasn't a bad watch, but they had so very interesting premises like spirits taking over the body of some one else to sort of escape and be free, but they went off in just too many directions when they should have expanded that

We finally have started watching Ted Lasso. I know, from what we have watched, I'll like it. I can't speak for my wife though.

We started watching "Dark Winds" on Netflix. 4 episodes in and enjoying it.

Just finished 'Bad Monkey' on Apple yesterday. It was a decent enough watch.  A sort of dramaedy (drama and comedy combined). A very light show, with some violence.
It was entertaining, but in reality, if I missed the final couple of episodes, I probably wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Started watching 'Before, also on Apple. It is with Billy Crystal and I thought comedy, but after 2 episodes, pretty depressing. Not sure if I will stay with it, I have to see what else Apple has to offer.

Note to self.
Never watch another Will Farrell movie again. No matter who he ropes into it.

We figured Reese Witherspoon, how bad could it be. At one point we thought it was over, but noooo. Another 30 minutes. If it was just me, I would have shut it down in ten minutes.
