I don't think I have a more polarized view of the team's QB room.


The Good Russell Wilson- Throws a great deep ball.   Appears to have real leadership ability.  Super Bowl Winner and 10X Pro Bowler.  Helped lead the Steelers to the playoffs

The Bad Russell Wilson- The team that he won a Super Bowl for shipped him off in a trade (with rumors of issues in the locker room and with the coaches).  Sean Payton and the Broncos shipped him off while still paying him tens of millions of dollars.  The Steelers (while lacking a starting QB) put no effort into re-signing him.  He lost the last 6 games with the Steelers with the offense appearing broken and rumors of friction between him and OC Author Smith


The Good Jamis Winston-  Is only 31 and still has all the talent that made him a number one overall pick.  He is beloved by his teammates.  Plays an exciting brand of football.  Can make all the throws

The Bad Jamis Winston-   tends to throw nearly as many INTs as TDs.  Has lost more than he has won in his 10 years in the league.  The Browns (who need a QB) didn't make an effort to re-sign him.

I feel like the Giants QB room could be really bad or really good, and I have no idea which way it will go.

I feel like the Giants QB room could be really bad or really good, and I have no idea which way it will go. 

You know what they won't be?  Boring.  Checking down on every play regardless of whether a WR is running wide open 30 yards downfield.  Holding the ball for 10 seconds waiting to be sacked because they're scared to make a play.  We won't be seeing any of that.  So if nothing else, the losing should it come to pass yet again, would at least be entertaining.

You're definitely right that the optics around Russ haven't been great lately. The Seahawks moving on made some sense given the direction they were going, but the Denver fallout was rough—especially considering how much they gave up to get him. That said, I think it's worth noting he still showed flashes of solid play in 2023, even if it wasn't consistent. The Steelers situation was odd, though—hard to say how much was on Russ versus a dysfunctional offensive scheme and Arthur Smith still finding his footing. At this point, it seems like his reputation and relationships may be hurting him more than just his on-field performance.

The Giants can't possibly be worse on offense than last year..when they never scored tds at home.. .until the Colts tank job game.

That being said, they W & W are radically different dudes that are an odd couple. Big key is the defense really has to be one a threat to create points..turnovers..to aid the offense and have a competitive chance to win games..

I do think it is worth mentioning Wilsons 5 games at the end that were all losses, were against top tier defenses, and a division rival fighting for its life.  The Steelers had less offensive talent last year than we did.

His premiere weapon was injured and when he came back after a few games he wasn't a dominant factor.

I read that he only had issue with Smith. Smith won.

Glass half full or glass half empty is not what we should be concerned with but to what extent will we see it refilled? In each of the past 2 seasons, they had an expected W-L of 4.5 which is exactly what they accomplished on a combined average basis.

Personally, considering the additions and subtractions since this time a year ago, and the further additions to come, I anticipate seeing a lot more talent on the field this season and beyond. How that may affect W-L and other more subjective performance measures is yet to be seen and certainly can be very chance influenced.

For whatever reasons, the changes at QB surely, the favorable economics and choices remaining, I am more upbeat re content of my glass than before.

Wilson has a terrible reputation in the NFL. The Steelers are an extremely well-run organization that needs a QB and they couldn't wait to get rid of him even though he QB'd them to the playoffs and played well in the game. It was get out. Now.

He rubs people the wrong way. He wanted ownership in Seattle. In Denver, he wanted his own office. In PIT he was changing plays at the LOS operating totally autonomously to what Smith wanted. From people who know, he's in his own world, and is not someone you want in your building.

That said he is likely going to the Hall of Fame. Currently 11th all time in passing yards and only 16 TDs behind Eli Manning.  It would actually be a touch nauseating to see him eclipse Eli in a Giants uniform and have to "celebrate" that.

Exactly, Lawrence. They have themselves covered for a worst scenario, where they draft a QB in the Second Round or their first third round pick. That QB won't start this year, Russell Wilson will play all year unless he gets hurt. Winston will start or be the backup in 2026 to the Drafted player. It gives a developmental QB plenty opportunity to learn. So unless, Wilson is a Choir Boy and takes the Giants to unexpected heights, he's auditioning for a final big package for his next team. He's got to be too intelligent to know that he can't screw this opportunity up.

This is an interesting and fascinating thread. I am extremely excited about Wilson, particularly as he relates with Theo and Hyatt. Maybe he won't wear out his welcome as he begins to understand the road is not long and he can use this opportunity to reset part of his legacy.

Wilson will make us mad at some point this year, but at least we'll have a chance. Plus, if things go our way, we'll have a rookie QB to look forward to.
