Quote from: LennG on February 14, 2023, 07:01:13 PMTulsa King is definitely on the radar. In a few words, is it violent, like something my missus would avoid--you know, blood, guts etc or just a deccent drama?

A couple of scenes are pretty gory, but not until the 7th or 8th episode and by then, you really want those who die, to die a painful death. But it's a great story and it's pretty tame until a "showdown" in which when that's coming you can tell your wife it's a good time to drink a glass of wine in the hot tub while you watch
The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons, sure makes me question this whole, "healthy eating and exercise" thing

That's OK, I showed her the synopsis and she is passing. It does seem something right up my alley and I will definitely start watching this weekend.  (No football so what else is there to do       )

Quote from: T200 on February 09, 2023, 08:59:08 AMI haven't seen anyone mention this Netflix series, 'YOU'. Season 4 Part 1 is starting tomorrow. Part 2 will be released March 9th.

Here's a trailer from Season 1:

We saw the first two episodes based on your recommendations and so far we like it.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Glad you like it. It gets better as it goes! One of our sons told us about it. I like Season 2 the best but they are all good.

I'm curious how they milk 4 seasons out of this.

I think they pull it off quite well. Season 3 is the trippy one though, especially the ending.

It's a great series that doesn't get enough hype or attention, IMHO.

Anything good on Prime video? Movie or TV related? The gave me a free subscription for 2 years but I haven't found 1 thing that I haven't either already seen or care nothing about.

Tried to start the expanse but the 1st and 2nd episode didn't hook me.

Then tried the three musketeers tv show and while ok definitely isn't must see.

I'm  currently watching the good doctor from the start and I'm on season 3, it's phenomenal but definitely need to find something to alternate with it as watching 6 seasons of a medical drama in a row probably isn't healthy, I'll be self diagnosing friends and coworkers by the end.

I watched the first of three seasons of Sneaky Pete on Prime Video. Enjoyed it. Probably wrote about it in this thread a couple years ago or more. I should probably go back to it to see how it ends.

Also, I watched the Brit murder fiction series called "The Fall" back when it was on Netflix. It was also good and quite intense. Starring Gillian Anderson.

I have started watching "The last of us", though I am not a fan of the game per se, so I am just watching it without any expectations or knowledge.

The last of us has been absolutely phenomenal in my opinion. Whether it's that show or the mandolorian Pedro pascal plays the Bruding father figure really well.

I have seen the Expanse and if you stay with it and like SciFi away from the usual Star Trek, this is an excellent show. Year 1, was OK but it really gains steam after that. It does get a bit intellectual sometimes rather than just action, but if you stay with it you will be rewarded with a great SciFi series.

I mentioned that we were watching Why Women Kill on Paramount. We have now finished season one and really liked it a lot. Lucy Lu was great and so were the other ladies. As I said previously, it follows 3 ladies and their families, one from the 1960s, one from the 1990s, and one from present-day 2019, and how the women deal with their mates when they find out that they cheated on them. It was done very light-heartily but it did get a bit more dramatic for the final couple of episodes. We are now off to try season 2 with a new cast and new problems.

I (and I do mean I) just finished Tulsa King with Sly Stallone. As others have said, I liked this series a lot and Stallone probably gave his best performance in quite a long time. I am a sucker for 'mob' type movies and I fully expected a lot more killings but it was well done and Stallone, sometimes a bit over the top was the entire show.

If anyone wants to know, Stallone is a mob Capo, He spends 25 years in prison rather than ratting out someone. He loses his wife and daughter by not being there. He gets out and wants his due, instead and gets sent to Tulsa to sort of fend for himself. He sets up shop, gets a crew together, and does his thing with several bumps and bruises along the way. It is a NY mobster in cattle country and Stallone pulls it off.
If this is your thing, I would recommend it.

Wow...you killed all 9 episodes over the weekend...I'm impressed. Did your wife watch it too? You had said she doesn't like gory scenes and towards the end of the season, there's a few. Of course, you know that now. I can't wait for season 2  :(

I have just started a Netflix series called "Snow Girl." It is about a 5 year old girl who is kidnapped right from under her parents' noses at a crowded parade, and the investigation that ensues. It is Spanish, but it is dubbed and dubbed pretty well, so you don't have to deal with subtitles. Sometimes dubbing can be done very poorly, but in the case of this show, it has not distracted me at all.

I'm three episodes in, and it's a six episode season. So far, I'd say it's very solid, and it's a genre that I usually like (thriller/crime drama). I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys that genre.
