If as you say, Elumenor is doing well at RT, and That isn't lighting a fire under Neal's arse, i don't think anything will.  I've been really rooting for the kid but he seems worse than Flowers.

Other than the crutches, you're looking good.  Don't overdo.
I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a vindicated pessimist.

Easier said than done.  Being essentially homebound for 10 weeks and being a natural hard charger who challenges his body to keep up...

That said, I don't want another surgery on my foot so I am going to do my best to be good

Quote from: MightyGiants on July 29, 2024, 12:30:27 PMI don't have a lot of observations because, frankly, I wasn't as well prepared as I normally am.  I haven't memorized a lot of numbers, didn't have my binoculars, and didn't have a printed roster.

I was watching Elumenor, and it was so nice to see a competent RT play.

There is not a lot of standing around like in previous training camps, players were almost always doing something.

Turbo Miller really impressed with his field speed.  He runs significantly faster than most RBs and had a really nice run today.

Safety Owens is playing with the 2s.  The longer Mills stays on PUP the more Owens has a chance to make it at safety.

I was underwhelmed with DJ's accuracy today.  He had two deep posts where he missed his receiver wide.  One thing that was telling (in terms of WRs).  Slayton's miss looked worse because he really didn't adjust to the ball.  Hyatt did an excellent job adjusting so he at least got his fingers on it.

There were some nice medium throws by DJ.  The thing with DJ is he really needs to improve his consistency.

One thing that I saw was Hyatt still chopping his feet to change direction.

I saw a special teams drill I had never really seen before.  It was similar to the one-on-one drill linemen and receivers/DBs run.  One player had to beat the other player and try to tackle a pad down the field

Bobby Skinner and Justin Pennock, it was great to see those two.  Great guys.

I wonder about Bellinger.  If he makes the team, it will be more by default than because he earned it.

Has Bellinger been struggling in practice?

I am happy to hear reports on some of the young guys stepping up a bit, we need some help with the depth at RB, LB, and S so glad to hear Owens, Johnson, and Miller mentioned positively in some of these tweets. Also Eleumenor doing well at RT, if Neal struggles, he will be benched, in either way the OL should be in better shape with him and Runyan in the fold.

I wouldn't say Bellinger struggled, he simply hasn't looked good.  As for Neal, I don't think he is close to returning.  By the time he is ready, I am hoping the Giants will simply stick with what works (Eleumenor)

I don't know about others, but I never hoped to see Neal among the starters.

Out of the 3 "changes," one is a major upgrade, one is at worst a wash and at best a minor upgrade, and one is a slight downgrade.

Count me among those happier with the current unit.

JE is proven in battle to be a good RT.  Neal has only proven to be bad and injured all the time.  Move on.

JMS needs to get back asap.  He was a giant disappointment last year.  When you consider that centers like Tyler Linderbaum of the Ravens looked good his rookie year and Joe Tippman played decently for the Jets as another 2nd rounder, we need to find a similar result from JMS.  He was listed as the best in the draft class along with Tippman.  Time to step it up.

From everything I've seen and heard, I'm optimistic about the Oline.

Stinnie isn't amazing but he isn't bad either. I almost guarantee that Eluemunor starts at RT. After seeing competent tackle play together with El and Thomas it'll be hard to come off that.

Also Manhertz is a gem and will be huge for us. Manhertz, and Theo in some order for 1/2 on TE.

Rich, did Jones practice looking off the safeties at all?...did you notice him doing it in team drills?

JMS is not nearly the disaster some of you are making him out to be. He left a lot to do be desired but he was a mixed bag and made some good plays too. He may have been one of the the best Center prospects since Richburg or that kid from Canada and I think he's an improvement over Billy Price. Feliciano was a solid veteran but this kid was a rookie. Give him some slack. He may become a good anchor. I like some of the things I saw LY.
"There is a greater purpose...that purpose is team. Winning, losing, playing hard, playing well, doing it for each other, winning the right way, winning the right way is a very important thing to me... Championships are won by teams who love one another, who respect one another, and play for and support one another."

Looking sharp, Rich!

Congrats on all the recovery progress, and I'm glad you're finally getting to enjoy camp in person.

Ed: Great points. And practicing against Dex may "sharpen" him but it can't be good for his confidence. lol

Give it three or four regular season games; by then, IMO, you'll start seeing articles about leadership and second-level effectiveness (which is what distinguishes him your average center).

I followed him very closely in college; so far, there is no reason to believe Giants got anything less than the top-flight player they believed he would become.
