He plays the most important position on the Giants, and this is a Giants fan board. And his level of play today is worth talking about, so I think it's justified to start one.

This was an absolute calamity today. I'd like to hear if anyone has any other take other than that Jones was simply awful beyond belief. And unlike last year in week one, this was against a totally manageable, non playoff opponent.

My personal opinion is that this nightmare needs to end. I know they won't bench Jones after this week, but I would seriously consider it if I were these guys. Is Jones definitely better than some of these QBs out there on the street? Have Tannehill or Wentz been signed? I bet there are multiple others that can do a better job than this.

I understand that some will call this a week one overreaction, but the fact that it's only week one is sort of my point. Why let this snowball to 1-5 or 1-7 before making a change? How much more of this are they going to subject the fans to?

Is anyone seeing it differently? Is there any reason I'm missing to expect him to suddenly start playing better?

I would hope everyone had came to the same correct opinion that Jones needs replaced. It's been too long. We know what we have. Below average QB play. Giants need to do everything possible to get a legit starting QB.
Ain't nothing to it but to do it!

It's over.

Hopefully it's is for some coaches and GMs too.

I'm pretty sure everyone feels the same way at this point.  Daniel Jones is just the greatest example of the total ineptitude of this franchise.  Another brutal season of losing coming up with a shiny new WR piece to replace the shiny RB piece that now plays for the Eagles.

I'd like to see Devito.

Jones plays scared and doesn't compete the way I expect a NY sports hero to compete. Vilma said as much at the end of the game - his eyes aren't downfield.

He showed today that locking on recievers is real and the NFL has the book on him.

He also runs into pressure and has no pocket presence.

His presnap awareness is futile at best.

He continues to Checkdown.

He is a backup QB. That's it. I've rooted like hell for this guy to be the guy. I wish I was wrong about him but I'm not. He stinks. And his coach isn't much better.

Giant Jim

He's shell shocked. Mara was right, they ruined him. He was never this bad. The rest of the team wasn't much better.

Not this old chestnut again.  Yes, there are other problems; however, those are all irrelevant when you have a QB on par with Dave Brown. In the modern NFL, it starts and stops with the QB, and we don't have one.  It really is that simple....

EDjohnst1981

Brutal.

That injury guarantee will come into play soon enough. They will have to sit him.

That was awful.

VanPelt

That was the worst QB play I have seen in a while. He is not an NFL QB (even backup). If we had a real QB this offense would look completely different. He is scared to throw it down the field, can't hit WRs who are "NFL open", and can't process past his first read. The only thing he can do is throw that 5 yard slant, even when its 4th a 7. If you can't thow a WR open with anticipation, you will never be an NFL QB

Sure it does. But there is no one, single bigger problem than our QB. Save for perhaps the owner, who isn't going anywhere.

Yes he was...he's been a bottom 5 passer going on 5 seasons now.  Come on guys; the last Giants QB to throw for more than 3500 yards in a season was ELi, SIX years ago.  In the NFL's golden passing era, the Giants can't throw the ball.

I have defended Jones his entire career

And today was my breaking point

I want Devito to start from this point on.... But a hard NO if its Lock

Im certain Jones starts next week.... ANd if you lose to Washington that may be what finally does it for him ... But I don't think we should even risk it anymore ......

Lock has no ceiling... may be slightly better than Jones

But Devito may still (unlikely) have some untapped ceiling there... just roll with the second year player man

miss86

It is beyond ambiguity. Jones is not a starting NFL quarterback.

Just bench him and be done with it. Let us see if Lock or De Vito can do a job.
