They drafted Josh Allen in Buffalo, and wanted to trade up for Jayden Daniels. What does that say about their ability to identify QB talent?

My head is spinning because:

You fault Schoen and Daboll for bringing in Lock saying they can't identify QB talent. But those are the same guys who OK'd giving Jones the contract. They can't identify talent in Jones and give him a contract but with Lock, can't identify it. It's contradictory. I'd have to be cross-eyed to see it both ways.

And that's not an attack. Neither was the first statement.

All good, Banks is definitely concerning this year. Even if he figures it out, they still need another CB

I won't label him a bust yet, but it is night and day from a promising rookie campaign.

In the past I can remember discussing how QBs need a plus arm to make downfield throws in Giants Stadium.

Is that still true or has it changed?

Tim,

I could have pointed out how you are the first to object when people say too much is being blamed on Jones.  Yet, on a thread pointing out the other problems, you post trying to push most of the blame back on Jones.  I didn't bring that up because of the whole civility thing.

I mean if I was wrong about some fans putting too much blame on Jones, you would have at least acknowledged the other problems plaguing this team.

I heard on the Big Blue Banter podcast that prior to leaving the Bills, some were questioning Daboll's play calling.  I did a quick Google search and found this:

Rich... check the locked Daboll thread. I addressed and acknowledged the coach's issues as I see them.

Not sure what you mean when you say I'm trying to "push most of the blame back on Jones." Is it because I said he's a bigger problem than Daboll? I can see how it looks like I'm blaming him. I'm not. He is who he is. He, to me, is the biggest limiting factor of the offense. If that's the blame you're talking about, then I accept it.

Yes, the Giants have many problems, especially lack of talent throughout the roster. Most teams are in the same boat. But the QB position is the most critical. They can't continue playing games with such a competitive disadvantage at QB.

Hi Doc,

In the 1st half DJ was 4/4 but we need to remember they ran the ball something like thirteen straight times, he only threw the ball four times. He had a 118 RTG in the 1st half with another 50 yards rushing.

Quote from: LennG on November 04, 2024, 09:38:55 AMI've said it before, Jones is a coach killer. Granted our last few coaches were world beaters but having Jones as their QB meant doom for them all. He is the constant.
As for the defense, losing breeds losing. If we were a winning team our defense would be too 10.
Give them something to play for and they would show up every week. Now they are just going thru the motions and that is on the coaching staff.

I respectfully diagree and here is why. Yesterday when the Giants needed multiple stops, all the defense had to do was stop the run, when they knew Washington was going to run it, and they still couldn't even do that.

The defense flat out was terrible, and you cannot blame Daniel Jones for that, that is on them.

As far as coach killers go, I remember the same things were said about Eli Manning at the end of his career. Fans wanted Manning gone and they blamed everything on him, but as you can see Eli wasn't really the problem, the overall roster and team around him were very poor.

Remember its about the team and the other 52 players who contribute and not just one man.

Oh wow, 118 rtg off of 6 passes

4 of 6 passes for 0 yards (and a TD)

Is there any reason you used RTG and omitted the not so attractive numbers?

Yeah your ignoring what I posted and cherry picking again.

Daboll ran the ball something like thirteen straight times in a row, do you remember that?

Also DJ himself ran for something like 50 yards in the 1st half.

You see when your consistently running the ball and not throwing it, your not going to have a lot of passing yards int he 1st half.

DJ threw for over 170 yards in the second half "after" Daboll opened up the offense.

Maybe just maybe Daboll should have been doing that more in the 1st half? or do you want to blame Daniel Jones for that as well?

That's incorrect. He threw the ball 6 times for zero yards in the first half. He's the first QB to do that since 1991. This is not normal.

It goes to show what an idiotic stat passer rating is. It's a stat people use when results don't matter.

I am all for retiring the passer rating statistic completely.  I think it is absolutely worthless at this point given there are so many other ratings that give a much better picture.  Its like playing a game on my 1981 intellivision vs virtual reality goggles.

Except you are FACTUALLY wrong, he was 4 of 6, not 4 of 4, idc how much they ran, you are lying about his stats to prop him up and make him look better. You are picking the sourest cherries I have ever seen.  I didn't ignore anything.

Sure, running more equals passing less, but those 4 completions went for ZERO yards. That is also another fact and not opinion, nor am I leaving information out, I gave credit due in last post for the TD.

Let me guess, you have to go to work now?

Could not agree more, but you are making too much sense, logic has no place here.
