In hindsight, I agree. But you also have to keep in mind that both of them were unproven rookies and had no track record of success, only ideas, hopes, and promises.

I also think Mara was specifically looking for candidates who would tell him what he wanted to hear, which was "we can fix Daniel if we surround him with better players".

The other candidates probably told him "we need to get a QB".

I'm not saying they are blameless by no means. As frustrating as it is, cooler heads need to prevail and assess the situation in its entirety, including Mara's influence.

This regime decided to go all-in on Jones. They're the ones who rode into the season with a terrible quarterback room. They didn't even take a flier on a late round quarterback. They're not victims in this situation. They're responsible.

I meant the Mara mistake was hiring these two. They came as a pair. I didn't have any GM candidates but I was all in for Flores. Once Schoen was picked you knew Daboll was a done deal.

This past season, I feel they had enough of Jones. The decision to *not* bring in a QB to compete with Jones was deliberate as to not have an opportunity for a QB controversy. It was going to be 100% on Jones to show what Schoen and Daboll already knew; that he wasn't the guy. They needed Mara to see it.
