Quote from: BlueMoshik on November 24, 2024, 05:30:26 PMYes. Their main action was to hold on to Jones as the starting QB three years into their regime, with Drew Lock and Tommy de Vito as the plan b.

Everything else is spin.

Got it...they say nice things about him, then immediately proceed to void his 5th year option.  When left with no choice but to sign him, they say more nice things, then proceed to negotiate an 18-month out from "his franchise contract."  They sure do have a funny way of demonstrating thier "commitment."  Again, the facts don't fit your narrative...

If Schoen and Daboll let Mara bully them and they don't make their own major decisions. then I don't want them, I want guys who don't take their orders from an incompetent Nepo Baby. In any case, the result is that Jones became their guy. If he wasn't, they should have said so, and done something about it. Three years in, you can't just shake it off and pretend it has nothing to do with you.
Of course it's just speculation on my part. I have been in the military and worked for some pretty high brass. I understand the unintended influence that rank and positions of authority have on people.

Add to the mix a first-time GM and HC to a flagship franchise in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, it's easy to see the willingness to compromise a little. Additionally, they had zero history to come in the door making firm demands.

Last, no one suggested that they claimed the decisions had nothing to do with them.

"We're going to build this thing the right way... I'm not going to do a Hail Mary for self preservation. We've got a plan in place and we're going to stick with that"

Agreed. I don't think they would've been hired if they did t sell the idea they can "work@ with and make jones into a franchise QB because of the tools he had and because of Daboll pedigree. Then when we beat Vikings it was obviously fools gold and we know Mara wanted Barkley back. They likely sold him on the idea RB by committee is better way to go.

This is precisely why they will do it. After years of calling him for recommendations and getting Judge and Daboll, they'll just go to the source directly. The problem is he won't be bringing a young Tom Brady with him, so we'd likely be getting 2023 Bill Belichik.

Which is why this baffles me how many think hiring him makes any sense.

Judge was a colossal failure that he gave a glowing recommendation to, OBrien, McDaniels, Flores etc all have failed as HC, and we are supposed to trust his succession plan?

This team is lifeless, undisciplined, it's clear as ever that the roster Joe Sheon built.... The coaches that Joe hired.... Are not up to the task.

Think about all the draft picks this new regime chose....... Think about the free agent signings.

From the offense to the defense to the special teams.... The players have given up.

In high school they teach you how to tackle our team does not tackle. The effort is not there. The talent is not there.

The fans in the stadium today are not there

The broadcasters are bringing up subjects about how the New York Giants are breaking records right now with the losses, the yardage, etc.

I do not see how this regime survives at the end of the year

If Mara keeps Daboll and Schoen Im not sure I will be alive to see the Giants win again. Nor will Mara.

The most important thing to Mara is that Schoen and Daboll let him play part-time GM.

They'll keep these two and spin it as "stability".

Why would today's game have anything to do with a coaching change unless the team completely quit?

How many week 1 starters, were on the field today?

The second and third stringers won't quit. They are playing for their careers.

Because whether u are a 1st stringer or backup on any team u must know your responsibility.

As we just saw on that TD, our players had no idea where they needed to be pre snap. What's worse is NOBODY called a TIMEOUT!

This means the players are unprepared. That's on the coaches

One name that I have not seen mentioned as a potential HC for the Giants is Todd Monken, the OC of the Ravens.  He has the Ravens O playing well plus the John Harbaugh tree has put out some amazing coordinators and now one interesting HC in Mike MacDonald.  Monken helped make Lamar into a much more complete QB.

Coaching the New York Giants is not a right you forfeit by making obvious mistakes. It's a privilege you must earn year after year by clearly demonstrating the value you bring. What value has Daboll shown he brings? Why is he entitled to the job because the losing "isn't his fault?"

Enough with the excuse making. Enough of the half measures. Burn it all down and start over.
