I don't think NYG is or, in the near term, will be a QB-friendly environment where a QB goes to save or revive their careers.
SMART, TOUGH, DEPENDABLE

I didn't want to start a separate thread but Trey Lance will be around this off season.

What was he like in college? I know he had injuries in San Fran and couldn't supplant Rush as the back-up.

Is there anything worth kicking the tires for there?

No. There's a reason he hasn't seen the field in the NFL.

He's awful.  He can't read a defense.  He can run around a bit but not a great thrower.  Doesn't have much anticipation.

In other words, the prototype New York Giants QB!  Bring him on!

You are probably correct but we do have some decent pieces in place although our depth stinks !!

😂 this made me laugh.

40mil a year and a "franchise" QB moniker incoming then 😂

I've only seen a couple of games but I liked the look of Malik Willis the back up for Green Bay. I don't know his status but I can't believe he would be very expensive. He might be a guy that figured it out in his 3rd year.

My choice for the Giants if drafting 8-9. Is to draft the best defensive player available. Pick up a QB in the late first or second round this is my order.

1. Dart (has strong arm and good pocket presence can run, I get the Aaron Rodger vibe, not saying he is)
2. Milroe (Think Jalen Hurts but inexperienced)
3. McCord (Saw him in the game vs Ward and he stood out he can definitely pass)
4. Beck (I like him some don't he is competition test big program 6'4)
5. Shough (Haven't seen much of him but highlights but big 6'4 240)
6. Howard (Another big QB Ohio State guy comes from a dominant program)
7. Lenoard( Another big QB that comes from Notre Dame competition test)

Hard no on Lance. He has zero football aptitude and has shown no ability to get better despite playing for two franchises that are upper echelon at player development.

I'd take back Dimes before I took him.

So here's the thing about drafting a top talent at QB.

If you subscribe to my pov that there is not one in this draft worthy of a top five pick, but the goal is to find one by the twenty six draft.

First the team will absolutely need to improve, assuming Mara believes that Schoen and Daboll will turn this around. That means a W L record that will push us out of the top ten after next season. Probably no better than a seven win team that shows signs of growth will keep them.

The chances of trading up from say twelve to fourteen overall to second or first are slim and none. That means we have to find a way to collect some picks that would have to include a twenty six first rounder by trading down in this years draft. It's literally the only way we could put a package together for a top flight QB.

I didn't want to be first overall in twenty five so I'd have my choice of Sanders or Ward, I wanted the first overall because that's the drafting equivalent of Park Place and we could've really collected quite a package for the twenty six draft.

Hopefully we lose next week so that we don't drop any further and have a shot at making a deal, albeit not as plentiful as a number one would bring, but perhaps something we could parlay into the top two or three for next years draft.

From Simms to Eli (with an assist from Hoss) our Super Bowl Quarterbacks. Great defense and clutch QB performances...NY Giants Championship football.

I have an old profile still floating around: andrew_nyg....I am one and the same!

This board would implode if a former Duke QB succeeded Jones despite the ND transfer lol

Quote from: killarich on December 29, 2024, 06:29:11 PMIf Darnold has a good playoff run... I think im getting desperate enough to want the Giants to sign him ... if he would be willing to come here

I cant believe the Giants messed this up that bad
So, we haven't learned from 2022 Daniel Jones?

I have said this several times, call the Vikings and see if they make a deal for McCarthy. I can't see why not. There is simply no way after the year they have had, to suddenly dump Darnold and start a rookie. Even if we have the 7,8 or even 9th pick, they would get back the value they paid for him with a high #1 pick.
Come on, if McCarthy as in this year's draft he'd be the first QB off the board and if we drafted him most would be static.
Plus he already has been sitting for a year so he could be ready to go from day one. Why settle for some over-the-hill guy or way overpay for Darnold? Make the call Schoen, LL is a legit option.
I HATE TO INCLUDE THE WORD NASTY< BUT THAT IS PART OF BEING A WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM.

Trey Lance is a free agent after next Sunday should sign with the UFL and play some winter/spring games. He needs to show the league he can play because nobody is seeing anything from him in 4 season plus most of the previous 2 in college. He has to be the most invisible highly drafted QB in NFL history.
